*Page- 107 "And when her lips met mine, I knew that I could live to be a hundred and visit every country in the world, but nothing would ever compare to that single moment when I first kissed the girl of my dreams and knew that my love would last forever." *Response- When I first read this quote I was so touched. It shows how deep John's love for Savannah is and how she would always have a place in her heart. Call me a sappy, lovey-dovey school girl but someday I hope some guy feels that way about me! :) ~haha Colby already does! But I love this quote!! That he can compare so much awesomeness to that one moment is amazing! The word sappy is awesome...
*Page- 153 "I barely had time to drop my duffel bag before she jumped into my arms, and the kiss that followed was like its own magic kingdom, complete with its special language and geopgrahpy, fabulous myths and wonders for ages." *Response- This quote in general just made me smile! This is the kind of quote that just gave you that warm, happy, joyous feeling in your stomach. Also, I thought this quote had great imagery! I mean I could literally see this scene in my head as if it was a movie! ~This is just me being cynical, but can a kiss really be like a magic kingdom? I mean really. And why is a guy using the word fabulous? haha this quote is great.. and I agree with you that it had very good imagery.
*Page- 162 "In the morning I was over it, ready to move on. Unfortunately, she wasn't." *Response- This quote took place after John and Savannah's first fight, and it spoke to me because this exemplifies exactly how girls and guys are and how they think! I mean guys get over a fight or argument after a couple hours whereas girls need to digest it, think about it, and most importantly... TALK ABOUT IT! To me this was a funny quote just becuase I have personal experience with boy reactions! :) ~I love this one! Your right on with why its important.. guys get over it right away, but the longer you leave girls alone with their own thoughts the angrier they get as they think about it. I think this quote is perfect to describe any relationship between a guy and a girl.
*Page 57 "...the saddest people I've ever met in life are the ones who don't care deeply about anything at all. Passion and satisfaction go hand in hand, and without them, any happiness is only temporar because there is nothing to make it last." *Response- I absolutely loved this quote! It was very inspirational and really made me think about some things on a deeper level. This has to be one of the truest things I have ever read, and I think everyone should have to read and learn from this quote! I also think the converse of the first statement is true, that the happiest people in life are the ones who care deeply aout something are are passionate! ~Your a quote stealer! Just read below if you want my reaction.
*Page 257 "All I knew was that she was still the woman I'd once fallen in love with, the woman I still loved but could never have." *Response- Out of all the happy, love quotes I have chosen this is by far the saddest one. It is at the point in the book where John has found out Savannah is married but realizes he still loves her. When I read this my heart ached for John and I wanted to give him a big hug! ~I don't even know what to think of this one. Partially, I feel bad for him, I mean he lost the love of his life, but on the other hand it was his fault he lost her. He knew that if he reenlisted that Savannah wasn't going to wait around forever, especially with how they left things after he left after his last leave.

*page 57- "Passion and satisfaction go hand in hand, and without them, any happiness is only temporary, because there's nothing to make it last. I'd love to hear your dad talk about coins, because thats when you see a person at his best, and I've found that someone else's happness is usually infectious." ~I really like this quote because its so honest. I love how true it is and how it points out that happiness is only temporary and how important passion is so bluntly. It really made me think about what is important to me in my life and what I am passionate about. I really love how passionate Savannah sounds about passion (haha) when she says this.
Pip Squeak! I also had part of this quote and I agree with you that it so honest and pure. I think it really spoke to the both of us. I know it made me think about some things indepth... like what in life really matters? And what is the point of living life if you have nothing to live for? This is what this quote meant to me!
*page 71- "...I had no regrets about the way I'd turned out. Regrets about the journey, maybe, but not the destination. Because however it had happened, I'd somehow ended up eating shrimp in a dingy downtown shack with a girl that I already knew I'd never forget." ~I also love how true this quote is. Everyone will always have regrets about the journey they've taken, but I think you have to be a really special person to be completely content with the destination that you've reached. The way I see it you never really reach your full destination because your always moving forward onto something more. After reading about Johns life in this book you really see how much hes changed after all he did in his youth.
Piper Ann, wow you are all about honesty aren't you? Haha jk! But i completely agree with you. This quote was awesome, and if you have read the book it really speaks about John's journey and how much he has changed and evolved. I would have to say he went through quite a process but turned out pretty good! :)
*page 137- "When close, he put a hand on my back... I knew he understood that I was hurting, and he stood without moving, as if trying to absorb my pain in the hope of taking it from me and making it his own." ~I really like the idea of this quote. I really do think that parents wish they could absorb the pain of the children sometimes, though sometimes its a pain they have to go through. I think this quote would be really affective to people after they read about all thats going on with Johns dad, and how hard socializing is for him.
Piper, this quote is another touching one, the kind that when you read it it makes your heart ache. Not only do I agree with and think that our parents could do this to us, but I sincerely wish that I could do this to some people. Sometimes you just see people and how much they are hurting and then I look at my life and how great it is... I just wish I could help out more with these people and relieve them of their pain.
*page 139- "I love you John Tyree, and I'm going to hold you to the promise you once made me. If you come back, I'll marry you. If you break your promise, you'll break my heart." ~Again I like the honesty! Promises are so important to people, even if its a minor thing it matters so much. Promises are something that can tie you to a person, and when Savannah says that John will break her heart if he breaks his promise it really shows how deep the ties of promises really go.
Yes once again we are in agreement on the whole promise thing. I think promises are huge! And if you cannot keep your promise, don't make it in the first place! I also think that promises speak a lot about a person's integrity and morals. Which I think are some of the most important qualities in a person!
*page 187- "Even though you may not want to hear it, I want you to now that you'll always be a part of me. In our time together, you claimed a special place in my heart, one I'll carry with me forever and that no one can ever replace." ~I like this quote because its true that you can never forget someone after they've played a major role in your life. You will always carry them around with you, even if things ended on a horrible note. But this quote from Savannahs letter to John was the only one that really showed how much he really mattered to her, if you hadnt read this part of the letter it would have seemed like just another letter to a secret admirer to get them to leave you alone, but this quote really shows how much he really meant to her. Yo, ok I know how much you like the word sappy so here I go again... I am such a sappy school girl but I cant help but think of people we know and relationships we have witnessed personally... AKA Hannah and our friend Patty-cakes :). But you know how much they told eachother they loved eachother and now they hate eachother! It is so weird because even though they supposedly hate eachother I guess there will be always be places for them in eachothers hearts.. This reminded me of your quote.
